The Wainhouse Collaboration Summit 2008 was a highly successful and worthwhile event. Andy Lippman of the MIT Media Lab gave a fascinating glimpse of the future of collaboration, second life and social networks. His main take away is that the future is not about “me” but “we”. If you want to learn more you will have to check out the video highlights at:

There were presentations on telework form the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Telepresence and Telepsychiatry from Compass Health. Very interesting presentations on video from Gerber Collision & Glass and the Federal Reserve Bank. The second day included insights on video technology education / distance learning from the State of Arkansas, Drexel University, University of Kentucky, the State of Oregon, the Sloan Consortium, Inc. and CILC (Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration).
In addition, there were impressive demonstrations from IBM, Emblaze/VCON, SMART Technologies, BT, Dialcom and Applied Global Technologies. Six Wainhouse analysts (including myself) shared their insights on UC, visual communications and social networking.
